Is There Really A GOD?
Hebrews 11:6
When approaching important topics in life such as "is there really a God?" most of us have presuppositions about the Divine and creation. We have our own base of beliefs, filters, and influences which we have accumulated through our families, our environment, and education which strongly influence our beliefs and understanding.
At some point in our life, we may have feelings of emptiness and loneliness, and that we are in a world that is cold and indifferent. We may feel like a small cork bobbing in a gigantic cold ocean, and our fate seems precarious. This may cause us to realize that we do not have the power within ourselves to make us whole, complete, and have purpose in our existence. So, we feel frustrated and incomplete. Perhaps we have a sense that we are all alone in this world without any outside means of hope. This feeling of isolation, loneliness and frustration, may cause us to search for a way or a path which would satisfy our deepest needs, and end our aloneness and frustration.
Is there really a God out there? If not, we are left with a cold and indifferent world that crushes all our hopes and desires. What misery this would be! If there is a God who is there, is he a loving and understanding presence? Can we ever know him? If so, we may have found the answer and way to contentment. A way which will answer all our questions and give us hope.
Prayer: Dear God, reveal yourself to me as I look for you and the path which leads to a relationship with you, Amen.
