A Godless World?
Ephesians 2:12
This is the world in which we were born. we are born in sin, we are depraved, and alienated from God. How then do we ever come to know God? First, the answer will never be found within ourselves. Many try, but it always ends in failure. God is Creator and Designer. Since he is creator, God takes responsibility for his creation. When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid themselves from God. God called to them and asked, "where are you?" Do you think that God did not know where Adam was? Of course he knew. He wanted to talk to Adam and repair the relationship, and proclaim the consequences of his disobedience.
Do not all of hide, cover, and conceal our sinful acts and ways? From whom do we think we are hiding our sins from? God sees everything and his word says he that hideth his sin shall not prosper. Our sin is twofold. There is our sin nature that we are born into because of Adam and Eve. Second, there are acts of sin which come from our sinful nature. We sin because we are born with the inclination tp do so. However, it was not that way in the beginning.
How could a Holy, just, and loving God hold us responsible for the sinful nature that we are born into? He does not, we are not culpable for our sin nature, however, we are culpable for the acts of sin (for all have sinned). We do sin because of our sinful nature. Ultimately, both our sin nature and our acts of sin are why God sent his son Jesus to provide the remedy. This is Grace given freely from a loving God who desires to mend the broken relationship. This grace is applied to all who believe and surrender unto him.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to see that without you I am lost in sin. Help me to see how serious sin is to you and that sin alienates me from a loving God. I confess my sin to you now and ask that you restore my relationship with you. Amen.
